Run like a dog: A run for Brindisi

run like a dog

This weekend I ran my long run at my parents cabin.  When I stepped out for my 7-8 I didn’t know where to go.  The fun thing about running up at Silver Lake is there are endless trails up in and woods and around the lake.  As I headed down the first trail, I couldn’t help thinking of the sad puppy I had to leave behind.  He tore his doggie ACL 2 weeks ago and just had surgery.   He used to love tromping behind me on the rare occasion when I got to run with him, but he regularly hit these trails every weekend with my dad.  I decided to dedicate this run to his favorite routes and run them just a little like he would.  Here are the steps to running like a happy Labrador.

run like a dog

Sprint any clear straightaways!

Leap over any logs or obstacles that get in your way!

Discover hidden bridges deep in the woods!

Sprint up hills twice!  It takes those slow humans way longer than a dog to get up a hill!

Take some time to sniff, smell, and check out cool creatures!

Swim, splash, and/or drink from a creek!  (I choose to just admire this waterfall!)

See how much more you see when you run like a dog?

Brini!  I missed having you out with me.  Heal up buddy roo!  Dad needs his buddy 🙂

That is an old pic Mom! I was disappointed though because I know I have an old one of him running through the woods, but I think I lost it when I lost one of my old blackberries…
