Are you on a diet?

Are you on a diet?  That is a trick question, because technically if you eat food then you are on a diet.  Anything we eat is part of our “diet.”  The question then becomes are you happy with your diet.  If you answered no it is probably for one of two reasons.

1.  You are on a restricted calorie diet with foods you do not like.

or

2.  You don’t eat healthy and know you need to change.

If you answered yes it means you have learned eating healthy can be fun, rewarding, and not feel like being on a diet.

To those who answered no I challenge you to find one “go to meal” this week that you like that is 400 calories.  It need to be a 1:1 ratio protein to cho.  You may not find it on your first attempt, so happy healthy eating 🙂

Awesome website Courtney! Just a question, do you think runners should eat 1:1 protein to CHO ratio? Have you watched Forks Over Knives? Obviously the documentary has an agenda, but its really gotten me thinking. I have been eating less protein lately and honestly haven’t felt that I’m really missing it. But in all fairness I’m not training as hard right now as I usually am so that probably makes a difference too!

    1. Yes I do think that you should eat a 1:1 pro to carb ratio. You probably don’t feel like you are missing nutrients because Carbs help keep your energy higher, but you won’t have the same fuel to rebuild after a workout. I also bet in 2-3 months you will regret eating so many carbs because you will probably start to see a shift from muscle to body fat.
